Fatal Frame 2

The first Fatal Frame is probably my least favorite of the survival horror games that I’ve beat on PS2, but I didn’t hate it. Though it was testing my patience in that final stretch. I played 2 and in an hour. It immediately felt like a huge step up. The fist game was already pretty good looking for the time, and 2 looks even better. Its story is already more interesting and actually exists outside of notes. It’s still of that same J-horror ilk, but it is vastly more fun than the firsts. Gameplay is pretty much the same, but the mechanics of catching ghost is different. So far, none of the ghosts fly. They walk twords you, and they look really creepy. You have to get really close to them to do a lot of damage. The other thing I like is that you find camera upgrades, like lenses and what not instead of using points to buy them. You do use points to upgrade the upgrades, though. And the best thing over all is so far, I’ve been exploring a whole village, going into different houses and walking around the village. The step up in quality is apparent almost immediately.
The ghost have been way to easy, to the point that a lot of them are just tedious to deal with. I have so much health, and Film, its over all just been way easier. The story is still generic J-Horror, but one or two of the cutscenes have some really great imagery.
They announced the remake the same week I finished the game. I’d replay 2.
